Hunting over Christmas = good
Hunting over Thanksgiving = bad

Gotta love MDC...🤣
If you are in cwd zone like me, you get to hunt both, so ya love mdc. 😎

And if you have CWD tags you can kill whatever you want. MDC for the win!

How much have you noticed population decrease science CWD tags.
None. This is the first year we've gotten them though. Timberdoodle has been getting them for awhile and he said the same thing.
I don't think the objective is to reduce the population as much as it is to test more deer. If we get a positive then I'm sure population reduction will become the goal.

when you guys fill a CWD tag during any respective season, how do you get them the lymph nodes? It seems they could add an additional day or two during the season for testing and get a whole bunch more test samples, but maybe not?

There are a few options. There are a couple of drop boxes not far from me. My son killed a buck that we are having a euro on so the taxi took care of that one.

I would agree with this if MDC required people to test their deer during the extended CWD season but they don't.

According to my local conservation agent the CWD portion is nothing more than an extension to reduce the population in a CWD zone. He says that even though they have added the CWD portion and opened up the longer antlerless portion again that there are still too many deer and not enough people shooting does any more and if the general public won't shoot them then the state will. The last two years in their CWD target zones in the west half of this county they have set a goal of killing 305 deer per year and they reached that goal both years.

I know that there has been two more positive CWD deer killed this year in the same area as the last two years. According to the MDC tech that comes around and picks up the samples (I do voluntary sampling) they are in the process again this year for doing targeted hunts in the same zones. He said that he didn't know yet what their target goal was going to be set at and that it probably wouldn't be set until all the firearms seasons were over and after all the test results were in.

On a side note he did say that the number of samples taken in this season were down significantly from last season across the board in the SW region, which is the region he covers. He wasn't sure why that was so I don't know if that implies lower deer numbers or that it is due to warmer weather or whatever. I'm sure someone will have an opinion on that.

With all these rules breakers in the deer woods they need to eliminate aprs. Obviously deer hunters can't be trusted to not shoot 6pnt <

If you use cwd tags you need to get them tested.
