So I know what you are thinking. I am just poking fun at all you high graders out there. Nope, not at all. We try to let the best genes get some age on them. We were rewarded by passing on this cow tailed spike. He exploded into a great 5x4 2 yr old the next year…. AND the neighbors girlfriend dropped him in rifle season. He was headed to be a giant as a 3 and 4 year old. Here he is at 2. Honestly this is the only spike I have ever seen that we knew who he was the next year. All by his huge long black tail.

I dont shoot many bucks because I dont shoot dinks. Ive not shot a buck since 2004 that hasn't went on the wall.
Since you don't shoot many bucks, how many bucks have you shot since the dink you shot in 2004 have gone on the wall?

Still haven't seen any pics....

I don’t know how to high grade, especially hunting public land. I can tell you 150+ in the Ozarks, is like a 170 in Iowa. I shoot what looks good to me and don’t worry about much else.

I didn’t expect you to agree with me.
Why is it that you dont believe? Considering the ozarks have had a huntable deer population 20 years longer , much more rugged remote landscape for bucks to grow old in and turn out huge bucks at the rate they do. Its almost like you are letting reality overshadow theory

All of them.
So, you're unwilling or unable to put a number on how many 150"+ bucks you've put on the wall since your last dink in 2004, got it.

I don't think you practice what you preach, otherwise you'd be posting pics all over the place to prove your point. :ROFLMAO:

Ive never posted pics. Some of my bucks are not 150, but all were 4.5+, most 5.5+. Plenty of people here have seen them.

If this were true then every mule deer in the Rockies would score 110 inches.

It takes an truly exceptional animal to reach 150" around these parts. We have a lot of pressure and trigger happy folks who can't watch them walk. They also only shoot the pretty ones. Not sure that's high grading, it's too many hunters all after their version of a monster buck. Just a fact of life we've learned to live with.

We've killed a 175", 160", couple 150" in recent years. I have personally passed two of those when they were smaller/younger in hopes they'd make it. Countless others I never saw again 🤷🏼‍♂️

IMO, record bucks are a thing of the past. When hunters went for meat over horns, big bucks became bigger bucks. Now everyone wants a nice set of horns…so hunters pass on many many smaller bucks, resulting in more mid to upper mid bucks being taken. These mid range to upper mid range bucks are now never making it to the true trophy range, simply because they are the new target.

if 100,00 hunters shot the first deer they saw, their season was over. Now people wait and wait for bigger bucks.

Anyways, the Milo Hanson buck will probably never be broken because we as hunters, stopped hunting for meat.

Just by reading this post its clear you need someone to explain the chart to you.Äş
No need. I have 65 years of actual deer hunting under my belt in MO ,Ark, and KS. To say every 5 1/2 yr old will reach 150s or even the majority is absurd.
I admit I am no longer chasing that monster buck. I hold out for a mature decent rack buck. I'm glad you like to trophy hunt, but not everyone is a trophy hunter.
I shoot what ever walks in front of me, but its usually flying by..or legs down droppin in the decoys.
