I have one that students built for me it is 5 ft high with a 5x5 platform. If I didn it again I would make the platform at least 6x6 for the blind to sit on better. I zip tie it to the platform and have field turf down to keep the wind from coming up and helps keep it warmer.
I use rubber matting they sell at Orschelns and it dampens sound, keeps wind out and insulates a bit too.

Highly recommend building a railing system around the perimeter of the platform then sliding the blind over the railing. The placement of railing "inside" the blind helps keep the blind in place and adds rigidity to all four sides during windy inclement weather. Most importantly having a railing inside the blind allows the user to reach out for stable support (railing) instead of pushing on/through the side of the blind (wall) and possibly tumbling over/off the elevated platform. We build platforms for ALL of our blinds even those that remain on the ground. In the pic you can see how we fit the blinds over the platform and then use screws/washers to hold the blind in place to the platform. We then lay down carpet or the rubber flooring that rat and others have talked about. If using metal scaffolding.. the rubber mat flooring is a must to quiet the blind/metal floor ..

Hey guys put some pics up of these blinds set up please!!!!!!!
Probably be pulling blinds and ladder stands this weekend. I'll try and get you some better pics! My setup is basically like CRE10's. We have a lot of youth hunters so we wanted to make the elevated blinds as safe as possible. My concern with a youth or any hunter once inside the blind especially during low light conditions is mistaking the side of the blind for a "solid" stable wall and leaning or pushing through the side of the blind and toppling over. Having the railing inside the blind gives you a "visual" option to place your hand or lean against temporarily in case you happen to lose your balance. Placing the railing inside also provides a rifle rest and corners where you can lean a firearm safely against the railing. If you decide to go with the railing inside the blind you want to make sure that the height of the rail is adequate to see over from a setting position. I always pick out the set of chairs that I will be using in the blind prior to setting the height of the rail. Most youth are going to naturally set lower inside the blind so an office chair with adjustments for height work fairly well.

The railings I did aren't for shooting rests or anything, more so if say you are climbing up and stumble, sit and fall off you're chair, or you're tipping back on your chair and topple over. They're not that high, but hopefully stop you from falling off the platform.

I installed an "oh shi t " bar at the top of the ladder but not railings, thats fancy :D .
I'm not the most sure-footed old guy so I need help and it really helps to have something to hold on to when you have a backpack, rifle, cooler, etc.

CRE10 on the first photo looks like you enter the blind from underneath. Do you have a trap door? Second photo shows a ladder most of the hub style blinds have the doors on a corner. Trying to determine best option for ladder to enter blind. Definitely will have a rail on outside like yours.

All have trap doors. I've seen some without and just looks dangerous trying to squeeze through a blind door on the edge of a small platform (unless you made the platform 2' bigger).

I had a bunch free 4x4's so most are 8' and then 2 are 10's. I actually cut some off the 10's and sunk the platform down to 24" if I remember correctly, they just seemed a bit high for where I wanted to place them. on the 8' ones I think my platform was sunk down 14".

I built the one with elevator brackets I had from them going on sale then I built five without.
