I've been in Mike's a lot before I started working on my own. Not once did I have a negative experience. They worked on my 10 year old Black Ice without one comment or frown. I've had nothing but good experiences in there. Only downside is they get busy. To each their own I suppose.

You might also also try Heartland bow shop in Ofallon. I never ended up connecting with him during Covid but he was always responsive. He works out of his house. He did seem busy though, but most doing it for profit are.

Not sure what you're needing done but we might be able to connect. No issue pressing the bow. Some things can get time consuming though as you probably know. Adding twists or some cam work is usually pretty quick.

I’ve had the exact opposite experience there. There is reason he is one of the top Matthews dealers in the country. His son John is running the shop most days now.
I had not been in ther for yea
crazy they “only work on Mathew’s” lol that’s a wild thing to say to a customer!

i’ve been looking into getting a bow press, unfortunately, i don’t have a spot to set it up right now.
i’m pretty hands on and enjoy working on all of my own equipment. plus, i like to able to fix things in the field should a problem arise
like I said, that was years ago, and it was not Mike, the owner, I think it was a guy who was just manning the store at the time. probably did not know how to install a d-loop is my guess

I was in there 3-4 years ago, I went from 6.5mm to 5mm arrows and needed a 5mm whisker biscuit. Took an arrow with me and figured they would not have one. Well the whole store had changed, to the good.
Guy at the counter opened up a WB package to make sure it was the right size.

When I went in this year about an arrow, I asked about a certain arrow out of my bow and the guy said, we sell alot of those just for that. I bought one and he told me the price if I bought a dozen which was cheaper than if I bought them on-line, he also had MSRP retail price tags on the bows and said we usually discount them a little.
Figured this may be where I buy my next bow..

not sure how many times I have been at the local range 370 and some one has a new bow or new gadget and said they just bought it at Mike's

it is a whole in the wall , small store, no range

I have my Bowtech SS34 at Lights Out in Troy right now, as the only BT dealer around here.
He works from his house also, he sells alot of Darton's

i shoot a Diamond Edge XT (just got back into archery 2 years ago after a 20 year hiatus), and i honestly love it. I have a way shorter draw length than most guys + the axle to axle length and the riser height just make it a shooting machine.

I’m hoping to give my Diamond to my niece after this season so then I’ll have an excuse to go buy a new bow 😂

I think Mike called those Blow Techs….. Dam Matthew Dealers……. 😂
Those Blowtechs were before I bought a Bow tech bow.
Not sure what they call the Mathews Lift with it's limbs blowing up this last year. Mainly splintering until they shattered.

Oh, it was just a bad batch of limbs Mathews is saying.
It was so bad Mathews came out and said they will warranty the bow for it's lifetime no mater how many times it has been sold. Guys with new limbs is having the same issue The Lift X is doing the same, but not as many.

2 years ago Darton had a bad batch of limbs.

FYI: My bow is in getting new strings and cams. Was at the range, after about 60 shoot I went over to the 3D targets and shot and the last shot sounded funny, arrow flew straight. Went to the pull the arrows and one did not have the tip and insert in it. It was in the target a 1/2 inch. I ws done so went home. not thinking anything of it. I think the insert came out on the last regular target and I did not notice it missing.
Next time at the range I shot maybe 30-40 times, but it just felt odd. Got home and looked it over and the ATA was a little long as was the brace height. got the levels out and got to looking and one of the spoke's in the top cam was bent out just a little bit...
I weighed the arrow that did not have an insert or tip and it was right at 200 grains. Limbs are fine.

Do not buy Gas strings, Mine have been ordered over 4 weeks ago, lots of people on AT complaining, but they are a sponsor of AT so any thread gets deleted. Gas is what Lights Out Archery guy uses.

I bought my first bow from him in 2003, so the twins had not been born yet. Mike has very strong opinions on archery equipment, as do many bow hunters. Sometimes those opinions don’t mesh. He also gets VERY busy this time of year, and people get upset when they can’t get what they want immediately. Overall, I think the guy ran an excellent shop. You just can’t make everyone happy.

A few years ago, about this time of year when Town Hall was open, I was driving by on a Saturday, thought I would stop in and see if there was anything I needed.
There was a line out the door and numbers given for those who wanted their bows worked on. I walked past the line and they had 4 techs working on bows.

I am sure it is that way at every shop

i’m sure most shops are pretty slammed this time of the year; especially when the amount of shops in the area has declined. I remember dropping my dad’s old High Country off at Summit for a new string like 3 years ago and they told me if interested in a tune up, it’s best to drop it off by end of May to guarantee it’s done in time for season. Pretty sure they had like 45-50+ bows behind the counter waiting on work.
