I have been overly impressed with NAP Killzones out of our bows and crossbows. They sell practice blades for them so you can get dialed in especially with the Trophy Tip version (rather than the Cut On Contact). They have retainer clips, but my crossbow is so dang fast, it will freaks me out about the thought of the blades coming open, so I put a dental rubber band on them on that fast crossbow specifically, not on anything else we shoot. We have yet to lose a deer with them. The 2", 2 blade cut expandable has been around long enough now to show it is devistating. The problem with Rage (only big one) was blades coming open mid-flight. NAP owns the patent on the retainer clips (came out in the Spitfires originally). Since starting blood tracking, I have clearly found that large, 2 blade expandables are making deer more recoverable than smaller and/or fixed blade heads. I think the proof is pretty clear with the deer that have been recovered from bad shots all over the nation in the past 5-7 years.
I liked Spifires because of their accuracy, and never planned to switch. Seeing things with my own eyes and then watching the same happen nation wide, I slowly jumped on the train.
Pick your own brand. But the design is proven.
Kill a deer with a butter knife broadside through both lungs. The question is, what is the result when something goes wrong. When you make a mistake in the heat of the moment and want to blame it on your equipment. WILL your equipment cover your mistake??
If a guy says he has only ever doubled lunged deer, and always recovered every deer he has loosened an arrow on, then he has not shot very many deer. I have yet to meet that guy who has ice in his viens and has dropped 50+ bow kills straight, double lung.
