Yuppie Hunters

Not you! Me.

I went full on new age this year with gadgetry. I'm hunting from a saddle and doing the bulk of my scouting on On-X maps. I swapped my quiver and stabilizer our for a quivalizer. I have one of them new fangled EZ-V sights on the way

So far in 5 hunts, never hunting the same tree twice, I've seen 6 does and a young buck along with 20+ turkeys. All on public land, mind you.

I'll be making a couple kayak hunts like I posted last year as well as exploring LOTS of waypoints I've dropped on my map. My strategy is to look for key terrain and then hike out early with everything on me. Find sign nearest to my waypoint. Find a tree near the sign. Hang it and hunt. I'm also looking at mostly smaller parcels of land because I'm hopeful that the deeper into it i get, the less pressure there is. So far this hunch has planned out. And in essence, I'm just trying to live up to my call sign, Trailblazer.

Best of luck.

I plan to sleep late, have a cup or two of coffee, then drive my atv close to my stand, settle in right before sunup. Maybe smoke a cigar while waiting for something to show up. :D

All sorts o ways to killa deer. :D

Add one more to the tally for deer. Unknown sex.
I used to do similar stuff when I was younger and more ambitious. Now days I take the more casual approach, mostly because of available time to hunt. I guess I'm lucky enough to have my spots that produce every year, I just have to be patient and wait till things are just right to slip in there. But, I still hang and hunt just like I always did. Good luck.

Not sure what saddle hunting has to do with being a yuppie hunter. It's been around for years. Great technique.

I know. Just being silly. Most guys I show the set up to ask me if it's a hunting diaper.

I think he is talking about using a tree saddle.

Speaking of which, is it hard to take a leak out of one sitting like that? I figure for the shorter length guys they would dribble on themselves.

You just gotta push out with one leg and let the other hang off in space. Sounds scary but if you gotta go bad enough you'll do it. Add another doe to the tally.

I think he is too. Lol.
Add a turkey. Big fat hen busted me trying to get my bow drawn.

I was. He's just not used to seeing me post something nice. :)

Most people still use some sort of a platform to assist.

You have no sense of adventure.
My oldest loves his tree saddle. He has the tiny aluminum platform and a harness back rest and says it's comfy to hunt .

I don't use the backrest for it because I tend to stand more than I lean back. But otherwise I have probably the very same set up.
I went ahead and climbed down. I saw a total of four does and that smart turkey. Did a good bit of scouting and found a decent area with some great sign. There’s an excellent scrape and rub line that I hung a camera over.

And you have a camera?

let us no how that EZ-Vee sightworks out for you. Like howhard it is to get use to and set up.

Seems like most of the guys on AT who have it are buddies with the guy that makes them,,,
