I have a few pockets a s well and few others that used to be loaded with birds are flat DEVOID of them

Problem is that is probably the 20 jakes for 6000 acres or more.

There’s little doubt that MO’s Turkey numbers are on a fairly rapid decline. Nest predators are playing a part in the decline yet habitat is where the focus should be IMO...

Found another pocket this morning. Youth season in a few wknds will be tough hunting. Have to call in the whole flock.

It's kind of like losing weight: put 80% of the focus on habitat (food) and 20% on predators (exercise).

Whoever thinks Missouri has a thriving turkey population is a little wet behind the ears. I’m seeing less every winter and winter is when you can tell what you have. This winter I drove around and instead of seeing winter flocks out in crop fields I see herds of deer. FYI Missouri has a thriving deer population UNLESS your in an area the MDC is sniping them because of CWD!!!
