Looks like 80% chance rain for Pike today. Wont be planting rye, oats and red clover this weekend. Who is done planting for 2019?

I'm pretty sure I'm done.turnips are up but have to fight the good fight to make a way for themselves . This rain just keeps flushes of foxtail coming after mowing or spraying.

I feel your pain . We have fought rain to accomplish anything all year.

I feel that too many people have a certain dates they like to plant because on average, it is the best span to plant that crop. A lot of other people just work with the weekends they have available and that leaves them limited. I like being more dynamic and taking risks but I'm not plantin a significant amount of land that it makes the risk not worth it. I planted turnips on the 25th of July and my mix with of turnips/clover on the 6th of August. 150# of Wheat and oats have even been planted last weekend and expect to broadcast another 100 pounds in a few weeks probably. Just depends on if they need it or not. 4 acres or so of food plots has been really rockin since then.

I have all mine done. 2 weeks in with timely rains and not the several inches at one time rains either. I plan to check them tomorrow morning and move a few stands.
I got all of mine in 2 weeks ago. My time can be limited so I do it when I can, and maybe even can find some help. That was the weekend that it came together. I think it turned out to be pretty good timing.

I planted clover last weekend, then got a couple of gully washer, afraid it got washed away? No experience with what it takes to wash away clover. Still got some WW to plant. May have overseed the clover if I appears to have been washed away
I was/am hoping to get some in this weekend. I’m not sure what Kirksville got last night—I don’t think much, but 50% chance tomorrow :(

We had 3.5" last night. It was just starting to dry up from the last rains we had. UTV was slinging mud and water in the grass pastures all week. I have been needing to haul hay and put some more up, but it looks like that aint gonna happen.
I ended up mowing the edges of my existing Food plots, then disc-ed them up several times and I hand seeded them all with Turnips,Dwarf Essex Rape and Wheat....as Henry mentioned with all the Rain we had this year the Foxtails had flourished pretty good....I was afraid the new seed would have trouble coming up but it (the grasses/weeds) helped keep the seeds from washing away!

Those two 3 lb bags of turnip seeds I picked up earlier this week I had planned on planting them this Sunday. Looks like its a mud plot right now. I had planned to make do with my riding mower dragging my spring harrow to prep the soil/rocks for the seeds but with the rain I think I'll just save the seeds until next year. Google says they will keep for 4 years. Next year I should have more areas to plant the turnips in. Winter wheat or cereal rye is my targeted seed now.
Just harrowed and threw down some wheat and clover this morning ahead of the rain.

go throw it out now, better to gamble than sit on that $20 all winter!

This morning?? Been raining since the wee hours of this morning. Its best to just wait and save the seeds for next year when I can better prepare the area for planting. Don't want to halfazed spread the seeds just to be washed down into Haw Creek.

I can sit on those seed for a couple of years and they will still grow.

They are making more seed. They aren't make ng more years. 02. Throw it and hope it grows to be hunted over this year. Buy more seed next year and repeat. :D

So you are advising me to just sow the seed on the ground as it is now and hope it finds a crack in the dirt/rock to root in?
Bill I kinda agree with 20 & Henry.. that seed will find a place
