What's your take on it? I disagree with it. I feel trying to make every deer the same takes away from the character of each whitetail. Uniqueness is a big part of what makes a trophy in my eyes. Why penalize it?

Doesn't really matter much to me....I usually talk gross score because that's what the buck grew. But really score is just a frame of reference for me and I'll never enter a buck in any "club".

That sums up my opinion perfectly..

It is simply another way of measuring animals. Boone and Crockett based their scoring system off trying to achieve symmetry.

Its another way of doing things...kind of like arguing bowhunting vs. gun hunting. Each is entitled to there preference and one is not better than the other.

I like it ot is the standard by which you measure record book trophies. If the animal is a trophy in the shooter's eye then the score doesn't really matter. an everyone loves gross better unless there animal nets in:cheers:

it take a truly special and symetrical buck to net BC. never shot one, yet???

I remember how thrilled you were, the day we measured and entered your buck....Why do you now hate it?:pop::wave:

Im curious as to why people would hate it. There is no one holding a gun to anyones head to have an animal measured for PnY or BnC or to even abide by the system that they have in place to measure an animal...and if you are wanting an animal measured but do not want to have the results of PnY or BnC net score system reducing the overall score of your trophy have it done on a different scoring system such as the Buckmasters system. I believe Safari Club International scores on a total net score also.

Im not trying to bicker or throw stones by any means, just curious as to everyones thought process when they are against it as there are many alternitive options.

I just don't like how a buck is only worthy of entry based on symmetry. I feel that if a buck has 130 inches of bone it should count as such and not be deducted because of minute differences in symmetry. A good buck is a good buck, and I personally like the racks regardless of symmetry. I guess hate is a strong word....more like disagree with. You are right tho, that was a good day.

Totally understand, and respect that, no problem....

But, look at a scoresheet sometime...It's all on there, gross and net. Yea, you have to "net" to make the required minumum though. BnC recently started publishing the gross on deer and elk.:wave:

I think the buck should get full credit for what he grew, not to be exactly even on everything so if they will just allow a gross score of a deer then I will enter one if I ever get the chance for boone and crockett.

I will also add that on the other hand. I feel that entering a buck is a way that you can honor the animal you harvested. "It will live on" so to speak. Anyway, Im talking out of both sides of my mouth but the symmetry thing just irritates me.
