I tried to do some mountain manning this week and for life of me couldn't find a mountian here in mid-MO. Can anybody offer up any good spots for me to try out that isn't too far of a drive? I tried searching in here and didn't find much helpful advice. I'm also interested in doing some remote tropical island manning as well. Maybe we should get a new forum section on that too.

Head down to SE MO-MO, St Francis mountains, they ain't but mole hills to the Rockies, but it'd be a good place to start, you can brush up your skin'n skills on a muskrat, before you attempt Griz.... Just my advice, take if for what it's worth, but I have seen a lot of mountain man movies, and some you tube videos, so that makes me an expert. :wave1:

If you are wanting hills Alex I can run you up and down the hills and gullies on my place....but I'd have to blindfold you going to and from there.;)

Just one trip to the north end and back you'd be worn out. o_O

If you have a mole hill nearby , I can steer you to some people who are experts at turning them into mountains. A couple of ex wives come to mind.

Figured one item that was a requirement for being a Mountain Man was to have something to wash stuff down. Just part of Mountain Man Life.

There are a lot of mountains in north Missouri. Just park on top of a big hill and then walk down it and walk around bird hunting for about 5 or 6 hours. You will find it just before you get back to the truck. It also works if you shoot a buck at the bottom of a draw . You will find the mountain when you are dragging him up.

Sam A. Baker Park Area has some decent hills to climb down by Patterson Mo. Piedmont Area.
