Generally speaking, if you only had one knife to carry around, and had to use the knife for everyday use as well as hunting, and were limited to a 4" blade........

What blade style would you choose?

Has to be fixed blade. No folders. (Cause I cant make them yet :D )

I have enough time for 2 more before the baby gets here, so lets hear it.

If it's gotta do everything, it needs serration on the backside for bone or branch.

No serration, no guthook, and no fancy curvy skinning blades

Copy the fixed blade Buck and you'll have the perfect knife :02:

I used to have one of those knives, it , along with the wive(daughter of Satan himself) got me 15 stiches in my hand. That knife needs somesort of guard to stop it from slippin through your hand, when thrusting it into a table,

Way back when my Dad and I made one out of a used chainsaw blade, 16in blade, big brass hilt, and alternating Walnut and Oak handle....wish I had that one back..
Sorry got to be 4 inch ah..... I have another homemade knife that is a great little skinner....that would do it.

Big John....chain saw blade? The bar? Did the bars used to be made of steel? I sure like the sounds of the handle, oak and maple alternated. Sounds nice.

Brad....that is one nice knife. I admit to being atavistic about a lot of things and knives fall among that group.....there is nothing, nothing whatsoever that compares to damascus, or pattern welded, if you choose to call it that. Stellar.
