THE DEAD SOUTH
JPJ & Seasick Steve to wind up the day.
Led Zeppelin imitators.
Uncanny sound here, great tune, just learned of them:
Love these guys, they put a special spin on LZ tunes:
These girls are fun to watch (I have just a little crush on the bassist):
And one of my favorites from the last great live performance from the masters themselves:
Had an interesting occurrence a few weeks ago. One of my oldest friends, we've known each other since we were 4 or 5, called and told me he had a present for me. Through a convoluted course of events he had acquired a 10 record set of "The Great Bands" from 1935 to 1945 and Glenn Miller from 1928 to 1938. Miller had yet to hit it big and was playing with Tommy Dorsey, doing arranging for several bands and working as a trombone side man for whoever needed him. It was one of those sets Readers Digest put out from I think the late 50's through the early 70's and this one is from 1966.
I still had my 40 year old turntable but it turned out it no longer worked. I have always wanted one of the old timey looking radio's like they had from the 30's and 40's so thanks to Amazon and a good bit of looking I found one with a record and CD player with good reviews I was willing to pay for. It came last Sunday and after I got it set up when I took the records from their sleeve they looked nearly new. Someone took good care of them. Even for 1966 technology they were quite well re-mastered and I've been enjoying listening to them. Cool stuff!!
R.I.P. Tom Petty.
Death Letter Blues
After dinner tonight I'll fix me an adult beverage and turn on some Tom Petty.
I wonder if Hawk and henry are getting any royalties?
New format REALLY screwed up the past posts in this thread....
