[rquote=1522064&tid=106105&author=trappersteve]It will be froze but I think if you draw low enough you could get into a pool that gets hunted enough to where the ice won't be that thick. It was a good 2 inches this past weekend.[/rquote]

Last friday I could still walk on some, not all, fell through a few times, not fun with a back full of dekes, gun, mojo:whiteflag: the pull itself was thin sheet ice that broke pretty easy

Just checked the weather, not lookin good. Looks like a decent chance going throught the week, but on the first it looks like low in the single digits, high in the 20's. If it aint froze thick by then, I am thinking that a whole day at those temps may freeze up a hole pretty tight. Guess I'll just have to work on a back up plan for these boys and call on Friday. Times like this makes me wish I had 2 more layout blinds.

Will they be open to answer phone calls on New Years Day?

I believe we have an opening for an "icebuster" :pop:

I'd usually say "come sober". But in this instance, being the day after New Years Eve, I'd say "come drunk"! It might numb the shin pain, a little :)

I do well at breaking ice, problem comes when I am asked to walk on top of it. 230 lbs + warm clothes + wadors + 2 dozen dekes on back + gun + shells = man fallwing through ice and cussing:D

Seriously I would go, but I am VERY scared to mention it to the wife since I already have Sat. and Sun planned taking the kids out, and the following week out of town hunting all weekend. Probably have something busted, and it not be ice.:peepwall:

[rquote=1528086&tid=106105&author=greenheadsmoker]tj them ninjas arent getting any younger :D[/rquote]

that is the back up option right now, hard part is figureing out how to hide them in the corn field. Might put the 2 boys in the 2 layouts I have, and then put my self and their dad on the ground using burlap, or set up close enough to the remining standing corn that we can hide in the corn instead of using layouts....

Last I heard it is suppose to get COLD this week. Hunted the pass today and it was probably 99% ice covered. Got us a hole busted but the birds could care less. They got up, flew around for a bit and headed right back to the refuge.

That is exactly what I ahve been thinking too. Pretty much I ahve been thinking that I will tell them it is froze solid either way, only way I would take them is if I felt there was a clear path to dry land, cause I dont see them lasting long in the cold anyway like that. Best bet will be field hunt for geese I think. I will go by tonight and check out the situation to see if I can hide us without the blinds, if not, I may ask some of my friends to let me take them up on the offer to borrow a couple layouts. Thanks guys, I really appreciate that!
