Something I've suspected for a long time. Something is killing them. It isn't all predation. The predators were here 10-15 yrs ago when turkeys werebehind every tree.

just as likely chemicals could be the issue as well...or is it habitat and overshooting the carrying capacity :)

They said that limiting hunting might be the only way of dealing with the disease.
So, dialing back hunting might help? Could that be the reason we have been hesitant to invoke ADH given the poor production of late? :wave1:

Read it again... FALL hunting, which most bios say will have no impact.

Yes, you do. And they are talking about FALL seasons, not spring. Spring has no impact because its males only for the most part.
We dont kill squat in the fall anymore.

Which is why they know it wont matter.

Pa killed 15,000 the last year available on their site (2011), we kill about 3000 in a state 1.5 times bigger.
Interesting. Will be good to hear the study results.
Time to break out the bug zappers!
"WE NEED 1000 bug zappers on 1000 nest FOR 1000 years if we WANT TRUE SCIENCE. ".....:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Not sure about hawks and crows but you sure don't see as many blue Jay's around as you used to.
Turkeys get ticks and lice, it only stands to reason mosquitoes feast on their fleshy heads and necks as well.
not sure why they are studying this when we are just in the new normal. #goldenmean :banging:
