Spent the night at the cabin last night so I could be there at sun up so I could listen for turkeys to gobble. I heard one faint gobble three ridge tops to my north. That third ridge top just happens to be my most northern property line. Its a prime spot for roosting every year. I had set up a game camera on that ridge top that over looked the dozer path. Seems this dozer path is a major highway for all game that is in that area. Brought the SD card from the camera and found a couple of photos of him and his love interest. The time of the day may be of interest on the photo. Think I'll get me a regular turkey tag plus my land owners in case he is on the neighbors after fly down.....and I already have permission to hunt their land.

Get him. Turks are kind of hard to find on the properties I'm hunting this year but we will make it work. Just for an update there have been several hundred white bass from Oklahoma through the boat I got from you in the last three weeks we have one more big run on Thursday planned before we get after the turks.
Good to hear Brandon!

Were your ears burning yesterday? My fishing buddy and I were talking about that boat just yesterday.
My wife's uncle and my father-in-law her dad have been fishing it a lot my father-in-law and I have been the ones on the white bass in Oklahoma the last 3 weeks we were working on it restocking supplies last night
Those cam pics are awesome. Nice beard on that sucker too. Good luck

Check out the discoloration on his tail feathers? Looks to have a couple of barred feathers in the mix. Weird...
Good luck and enjoy the chase Bill.
Hope you have an enjoyable and successful season mailman.
What time should I be there monday morning Bill?

Great to see always, I am hoping to have a few pics like that if and when I might be able to get to the farm this weekend. I get the catheter out tomorrow from prostate cancer surgery and hope I have the strength to get after them.I have been walking a lot and have a very limited lifting restriction. I more than likely will have to drive the ranger most of the way to my shooting house and I will be pretty much reduced to sitting and waiting, which usually is the smart move anyway.

Good luck on the birds Bill

Don't push yourself. You might have to take a jake bird since a bigger bird might go past your weight lifting limit. Healing takes time.

I am already planning on taking a ziplock or 2 and a sharp knife to break down the bird in the field and not pack it whole.

Good luck! Monday should be a stellar opener for a change! Rainy and cool Sunday, then clear and warming to the 70's is forecast. I have been listening every morning for a week and pretty much have them pegged where I hunt, so am feeling good about this season

It seems that each year turkey season opens when I have to work. It will be after the first weekend before I can get after this bird....that is if the road hunters don't find him first.
That dozer path is paying off. Good luck killing one with the homemade long bow.

Getting a longbow drawn on a turkey without the use of a pop up blind is a chore in itself let alone hitting my mark. Think I'll stick to the ol shotgun for now.
Wait a minute all this nonstop longbow talk and now your using a modern day weapon,Indians didnt do it that way
Lol go have fun

Sure they did.....once white man traded them rifles for wampum.

I'm guessing I'm not allowed to use a gun since I use a longbow too for hunting?

Maybe at the sporting clays shoot next month I'm to use my longbow too?
Honestly I don't give a hoot what you use, if I buy a tag Ill use my crossbow, but it has be strutting at 100 yards because that is a challenge I want to do, in other words if I kill one, it will be great if I don't I will have had fun and wont have to skin a stinkin turkey
