I would assume if its shootable in some state you can shoot it here. If you cant identify it i would not shoot it

duck IDs dont really change year to year however the MDC decides annually which ones go on the "shoot" & "dont shoot" lists

cheaper to make one book with all the ducks than to make a new book each year for MDC's hoops to jump through

If it is NOT listed and it is a DUCK then you can kill upto 6

I have heard of 2 cinny teal being shot at ted shanks years ago when the point system was ineffect. I love the ole heads stories.

You can shoot 6 scoters if they get close enough but you may not see 6 scoters in 10 years of hunting...the same with eiders, they are ducks and they are not limited by our MDC or our Flyway committee...but you may never see one while hunting. We did take a white wing scoter out of a group of divers a few years ago, had to get out the book to see what we bagged.. Please dont shoot grebes...that will cost you money...

The MDC is a permissive controller of our wildlife. They permit us to hunt when and where. IF an animal or a bird is considered a game animal, the MDC permits a season... Ducks are ducks and unless there is a limit on numbers you may take 6 of them. If the bag is limited you ?must? follow the limits or be liable to prosecution... So you dont have to be able to identify all different ducks, just the ones that have daily limits. I hope that helps...

Seen a lot of them this year for some reason, and coots

Gonna hit the river this weekend, really hoping for a Buffle Head to mount :thinking:

yup rebs right....if it is not listed in the reg book the limit is 6 of em. A few years back we were hunting the main pool at duck creek and killed a drake oldsquaw(now know as "long tailed duck")

So 6 ducks of any kind not listed.
