Went for a nice paddle this morning. Lotus were coming into full glory, and my BIL's bees met me down on the water. Caught a couple smaller fishes.

Met up with @NoLuck today. He gave me the fly of the day. We caught some troots. I caught 7 or 8, but NoLuck caught at least 3 to every 1 that I brought to hand. You do the math. He flat put a whoopin on the fish. Great to meet you NoLuck, enjoyed the day!

Not exactly the nicest weather for fishing. But the stream was pretty open, crowd wise. If it’s too nice, it gets pretty crowded. I don’t mind a little cold drizzle traded for some fishing space.

Hope you can tie up some of those bugs. They are the ticket at Bennett about 50% of the time. If you need material info just let me know.

Great to meet you as well 421sd.

Tiemco size 18 2499spbl hook
2.0 copper tungsten bead
6/0 Olive uni-thread.

Wrap the hook down to just around the curve of the hook. Taper the body from the bead back to the curve of the hook. Coat lightly with Sally Hansen’s Hard as nails clear finger nail polish. Thin it down a little if needed to penetrate the thread. But you want it thick enough to build a skin appearance over the thread.

Pretty simple but extremely effective.

If you need tungsten beads, I buy them off eBay in 100 packs. They’re usually in the 13-15$ range for 100. The hooks don’t usually show up on there much. They might be a little tough to find but well worth looking for. I used multiple other hooks before finding them. When I started using 2499’s my hook up rate increased dramatically.

Get some copper beads!!! Trust me, they make a huge difference. I’m not sure why, but it does.
