Having my walnut trees harvested. Started last year was concerned about the mess with tops. Fortunately trees are scattered so not concentrated in one area. Was surprised how quickly deer started bedding in the tops . Walnuts dont leave as much of a top as oak.
Wondered about other guys experience with leaving tops? I do plan on cutting up a few close to road through property. Plan on leaving anything dropped in the timber. I only cut walnut no oaks.

I have always left all tops. Deer like them as well as other critters.

The tops can provide funnels also if you are mobile with your stands like sticks/lock-ons or climbers.
