I need to do this to my trail camera locations. I've often wondered what the wind direction was when certain photos were took. Might help me develop a pattern. It also might help me determine if and where they bed differently due to wind direction.

Save those strings that you are removing from your bags of seed and or corn. Later when you hang your stands, take a string, fray one end and tie other end down in front of stand, and one up by where you are in the stand, that way at a glance you can see the wind direction. You may want to shorten it and put it where it will not get caught up in other limbs.
Back in the day the thing was to tie a feather onto a string, well if the feather gets wet, it gets real heavy and will not move in a breeze, tornado, yes, breeze, not so much.
Weather Underground is a lot easier..I need to do this to my trail camera locations. I've often wondered what the wind direction was when certain photos were took. Might help me develop a pattern. It also might help me determine if and where they bed differently due to wind direction.
Weather underground will show previous wind directions?Weather Underground is a lot easier..
Yep or NOAAWeather underground will show previous wind directions?
I use the AP Windy for current and future wind directions and where wind shifts are
So you climb out of the stand every 3-5 mins the wind shifts/change of direction???I don't trust any app to tell me the wind direction because terrain affect it greatly. I like the string idea and have tried multiple different things. I really like milk weed seed silks but that requires doing your own harvest.
I have been known to bail out of a stand when the wind has shifted. So you climb out of the stand every 3-5 mins the wind shifts/change of direction???![]()
..... Any hunter worth his/her salt knows it's all thermals these daze..... or air tight Muddy Bull Blinds......

I don't believe that I ever said anything that you have stated but however you want to interpret what is posted. If you want to trust a app to tell you what is happening in front of you go ahead. I guess I'm not as lucky as you to open any app that gives wind direction and have it be correct 100%.So you climb out of the stand every 3-5 mins the wind shifts/change of direction???![]()

So, what do you do when the wind changes direction while you're on the stand, change stands?Weather underground will show previous wind directions?

Lol, yes, I do. I know, I know it's just a deer...So, what do you do when the wind changes direction while you're on the stand, change stands?
Sometimes, depends on if I have another stand near by, I have been known to bail and just sit on a hill to do some scouting. I have one that they bed to the southwest of me. Evening, a north wind is iffy, if it shifts just a little to the east I am ought of there, period. So, what do you do when the wind changes direction while you're on the stand, change stands?
Easy Trigger!!! Are you immune to emoji speak or what???I don't believe that I ever said anything that you have stated but however you want to interpret what is posted. If you want to trust a app to tell you what is happening in front of you go ahead. I guess I'm not as lucky as you to open any app that gives wind direction and have it be correct 100%.
If the winds do shift and I believe the spot is burnt with the wind direction, I will move stands. But anyone hunter worth his salts would do that or so I am told.
You hunt out of outhouse's anyways... so what's the point??? Maybe USPS some of that milkweed harvest to @justindh1 .....My milkweed harvest will come in handy. I mowed around some plants that had pods so I can go back and pick em.
Try WINDY ,see above, you can see windshifts within a mile or so of your location. Can see fronts. Low pressure areas n how fast they are movingIf you want to trust a app to tell you what is happening in front of you go ahead. I guess I'm not as lucky as you to open any app that gives wind direction and have it be correct 100%.
.
You are correct @Dafish .... I went on Weather Underground today and wasn't able to find the historical data.Weather underground will show previous wind directions?
I use the AP Windy for current and future wind directions and where wind shifts are
