Been in tree stands Monday and Tuesday and now this morning and have not see any deer. Acorns dropping everywhere. Squirrels making tons of racket all around me.
Trail cams showing some really nice bucks but mostly after dark.
Acorns are abundant and I know some will say find the acorns, you’ll find the deer.
Anyone been seeing any deer while in your tree stand or blind? I know they may not be at a standstill but they’re not showing up by me.

With food as plentiful as it is right now, deer don't have to move far in daylight hours. They'll bed where they eat & not move much. Which is why it's dubbed Oct lull.

I went Sunday to the farm and didn't see any. I sat in a food plot and all that came from that was it looked good with a ton of tracks.

Seen 4 last night while cutting grass at the house. They were in my food below.

Sure if your hunting ol' trusty field edge stand, yeah your not going to see much. If your hunting rut style pinch points and funnels, then yes its going to be slow. If your hunting over a scrape made a week ago, then yes. If you're mobile and hunting bedding theres no such thing as a lull. Deer don't just dissappear. Tactics change as deer change patterns. I don't believe in or see a Lull, because I change tactics and hunt bedding.

Plenty of public land. I hunt almost all public. People get hooked on "spots" and don't venture out of that.

Deer often times bed right where they eat when they're building fat reserves or are trying to conserve energy in the late season. Trying to sneak into a bedding area, with bedded deer is going to prove fruitless. Deer just don't move very far this time of year, thus the reason for labeling the period as lull.

That said, I'm quite confident, I could put myself in a position to get a shot on a doe most evenings if I wanted to shoot a doe.

i came back to do just that and worked all day on those projects.
At about 4:00 I somehow convinced myself I need to get back out there, wind and all because thundershowers are coming and temps are going to drop and they might move around before the storms.
Sitting in a tree, enjoying the moment!....I think I have an addiction......oh well, worst thing that could happen is nothing!

TOMORROW IT IS GOING TO BE A DIFFERENT STORY.wed i sat for 4 hours with zero deer. THE TEMP IS GOING TO BE ON OUR SIDE TOMORROW. lots of oaks are loaded but have not dropped. One has to be at the right oaks on the right day.

Going to be a great turnaround temperature wise! Really looking forward to it!
