Always are this time of year, not year round. Failed nests etc. Ive seen several quail sized poults in late august. I can remember grandpa coming in in early October with 2 barely bigger than a pheasant

My theory is that many of the late breeders are also jennies from the year prior. I dont know of any biological proof, but it's just an idea.

i AGREE THAT JENNY,S GET IT AS THEY MATURE. We have floodwater way up stream again. i HAVE OFTEN SEEN TOMS WORKING WELL INTO JULY IN WET YEARS.

some hens are probably on their 3rd attempt to nest. Eastern hens are kind of slutty anyway.

I've heard them gobbling in November.
Usually sounds like jakes.
Kind of a strangled gobble.
