Just got back from prairie dogging in southwestern KS and heres a few things I learned...

1. Driving to W. KS takes 2 hours less than driving back.
2. Constructing a custom shooting bench for your truck is a worthwhile endeavor if the lumber is free.
3. Driving in the rain sucks..
4. Never trust accuweather.com while packing for a hunting trip.
5. There are lots of rattlesnakes in Cimarron National Grassland.
6. Rattlesnakes are not amused by flying oreo cookies.
7. Never let a person who has been drinking convince you that throwing oreo cookies at a rattlesnake is a good idea.
8. Take sunscreen... and use it!
9. I shoot better with a goofy hat on.
10. Check scope mounts if you have inconsistency :bangin:
11. .22-250 is plenty of gun for a prairie dog.
12. Mil-dot reticles are good to have beyond 400yds.
13. I need a cz .204
14. Very good binoculars are a good investment.
15. Prairie dogs are red on the inside.
16. Fence staples can cause flat tires.
17. Stay in a town that has a functioning tavern.
18. Aleve in large doses helps a bit with tendonitis but does nothing for a hangover.
19. If someone offers you a Ten-High and soda at 11pm when you have to get up at 5am, turn them down on the offer.
20. I can win money in a small town at snooker.. and end up owing money by the end of the night.
21. Prairie dogging is extremely addictive.

Thats bout it.. had a great time. Didnt take many pictures but I'll load a few when I get time. Thanks bunches to glennasher and Jimh for all the guidance. Cant wait till next year! Oh.. and I think I have recruited a couple more MWT members :dancin::dancin:

HAHAHA! I want some pics of this snake/oreo experience! You've got to use pliers and put a lighter under the oreos to get them heated. Then the snake will sense the heat and eat the oreo! :hysterical:

Parker ~ you forgot the disclaimer "Do not try this at home!"...

BTW ~ I wouldn NOT want to "dance" with a rattlesnake that's on a sugar-buzz...

If that was the worst of your experiences, consider yourself lucky. :wink4:

I'm headed out of town for tomorrow, going to a rifle shoot in Somerset, KY. When I get back, say by Sunday morning, I want a FULL report, because I'm getting worked up for my OWN trip four weeks from today.:cheers:Glad you had a good time! I told you it was fun, didn't I? Warned you about sunscreen, didn't I? We leave Mr. NoShoulders alone, and he does the same for us.

One of the dogtowns we were shooting.. long shots only on this town. Lotsa times when we setup the dogs would run and hide but they would forget us soon and start running around. Big guys were out to 300+ yds but fun to shoot at. Longest confirmed kill for me was 487yds. Wind was fun also.. :bangin:
