Of the 2,426 turkeys harvested under archery methods, 1,113 were with crossbows.
How many of those were youth or disabled hunters?
Oh no, 1100 turkeys died from an xbow. Oh the horror.
That said, no doubt an xbow is an advantage to killing turkeys via archery tackle, I guess they are what you would call colateral damage to the introduction of them. But, 1100 turkeys isn't really all that many now, is it?
The crossbow deal on turkeys really gets laughable. People thumb their noses at crossbow hunting turkeys when they themselves hunt from a ground blind that all but eliminates the turkey being able to see you draw a bow anyway.
less than 1113
the worst part of xbow inclusion is that I cant stop reading all the moaning about it. pound-Addicted
It's 1113, and yes, turkey lives matter
How is a crossbow an advantage over a vertical bow on a turkey, but not an advantage on a deer?
Might want to close at least one side of your mouth when replying to this one.
I thought you were going to say all the people *****ing about xbows.
Is it ok with you that youth and disabled people can hunt turkeys too?
I said before... because a vast majority of archery turkey hunters do so from within a blind where a drawing motion is hardly detectable.
I encourage it...add people over 50 to that list too. 25 year old able bodied hunters that use crossbows are what is wrong with society as a whole
If you have ever read what I've said about xbows, I have never said they didn't have an edge, at least in some aspects. The question has always been how much of an adge compared to modern crossbow that can fling arrows at 350fps, is more maneuverable, quieter, etc.... I happen to think that gap is not so much, turkeys, imho are much more adept at picking up movement than deer are. At least, that's been my experience when bow hunting. take it or leave it, but that's how I see it.
and now they have an extra 4 months to do it!
Since I am pushing 60, I guess I get a pass then....
Thats WAY more than will die due to all day hunting...
No some people just don't have anything else to do
For me that is the worst part, you would think it would have died down by now but there is some diehard whiners around here.
FOr the record, since you never seem to understand my stance on this. I don't care if MO allows all day turkey hunting, It would help me out since my place they seem to like in the afternoon more than in the morning. That said, if they leave it the way it is, I don't care either.
Ouch man, very ouch.
