After having more bow hunts without seeing a single deer than I care to think about...and considering the temps and a 2 hour drive to duck hunt, I opted to go out and seek some revenge on the bushy tails.
Took my granddads old Remington Fieldmaster Model 121 .22 Pump with iron sights.
It was a good morning and the old gun can still shoot. 20171203_091018.jpg

This place has a pretty even distribution of grays and reds, but you couldn't tell it this morning.

Thats a good haul. I couldn't get a limit of barns shooting open sights anymore. I'm envious.

If that isn't proof positive the shooter and the rifle "can still shoot" I don't know what would be!!! Well done!!!!

Them reds are always a tad lazier/slower and usually present as a larger/slower target to them Grey's.... those greys get so hyped up and jittery that a SG is about the only way to even the odds lol ... I need all the help I can get!!! nice shooting!!

I was reminded why it has been so long since I shot a limit. Pretty sure I could have skinned two at least two deer out in the time it took to clean those squirrels.

Looks like ol' Hooks can still shoot too. From the looks of the hits on the squirrels, you did some good shooting. :brownnose:

I can skin a squirrel in two minutes.

Not sure if I could shoot like that though.

Cut the skin all the way around the middle of the body, grab it and pull opposite directions until you're down to the appendages and head, cut them off, gut it and done. I haven't actually done it for years (my girls wont eat squirrel), but I remember it taking just a couple of minutes per back when I shot a lot of squirrels.

Slightly different approach (better probably) but similar technique:
