Well.....they were back in town....in September of 2013. It's an unusual capture....a photo you don't see everyday.

    He's not bad, is he?

Within a 200 yard radius of this spot many birds have been taken by my hunting partners and by me over the years.

I cut my teeth on the knowledge and experience of Ben Rodgers Lee, of Coffeeville Alabama when I first started hunting turkeys. If you've never listened to one of his turkey hunting tapes you're missing out.

I remember Ben. I have one of his first calls somewhere in my Man Cave.

He was that alright. I still have an audio cassette produced by Ben Lee....it starts out.....Hello, my name's Ben Lee....I've won a lot of contests.....

I don't think he was necessarily bragging though.....just winging it as he almost always did.

I don't have any of his calls but I did pay close attention to his techniques and strategies. That's not to say he is/was the only turkey hunting expert, there are many others out there.

That reminds me that Ben Lee did not advocate shooting hens. On one of his tapes he was adamant about not shooting them.

    Nice looking crowd.
Usually we have jakes and toms hanging around our house. This year it's hens and poults.
Go figger. I cannot figure out turkeys.

It's been awhile since I've hunted turkeys in October because I didn't want to disturb the deer. I have a couple of "homebody" does that I want to keep.

But I still might go out this year in October for at least a few days, and let the chips fall where they may.

The girls are out for a late morning stroll. Listen closely and you can hear them talking to each other.....probably just gossip.
