Tell me about Muzzeloaders

So was drawn for the Babler muzzy hunt. Thinking this is a good excuse to buy a new inline muzzy. Would like a nice one, but not too expensive. Ideally scope, stainless, and easy to keep clean, shoot, and maintain. Would love everyone’s thoughts on some good options.

As for me I'll keep shooting my Knight KRB7...makes me happy!:)
I wouldn't be afraid to buy used if it is a real good deal, I can thoroughly inspect for rust/issues inside and out and exactly what I'm looking for.
I like this with Vortex Scope. No I don't have one all mine are CVA but I don't care for Newer CVA.

I would get a TC encore if I didn’t own a muzzleloader. This allows you to buy barrels and have different calibers for different scenarios.
Got a couple of Encores, still my favorite inline. The Triumphs are pretty nice too.

Best of luck.

Get yourself a flintlock. They still kill just as well as they did 250 years ago!

I have a knight wolverine. A knight bighorn. A knight krb. All shoot exceptionally. I believe they put good barrels on everything they have made.

Truth I enjoy my Caplock with Patch and Ball, plus it is ok with Black Powder Substitutes which are easier to find. And it isn't hard to clean.

I just can't see putting a Scope on it.

Best total value is a CVA Optima V2 in SS for around $260 plus a BH209 breach plug for about another $30. Beats the hell out of a Traditions coated steel barrel. If you got a few more bucks upgrade to the Nitride over SS.

You should start seeing sales soon but i would avoid Traditions inlines like the plague. They can keep their plastic trigger guards and action release levers. They offer nothing is stainless. Its all cerakote or nitride on CM steel. The CVA even includes a 1 piece scope mount.

I had New CVA and I couldn’t load 4 Sabots I liked in a row. Called CVA they said use their high Dollar Power Belts.

If I’m killing Deer I need a Muzzleloader I can reload fast.

I have older CVA’s and can reload all day without cleaning if I chose.

Like I said I have not used Traditions just posted because it was what I found first. But what has been said no I wouldn’t buy one but I wouldn’t buy another CVA.

Only been using Muzzleloader about 50 years so I don’t know much.

Do not overlook the TC Triumph. I promise you'll like it. Great breach plug, great design. I actually opted for the non bone collector version because the stock is solid and heavier. Love the gun. I have killed deer out to 300 yards with Shockwave sabots and Blackhorn 209 powder

Please, we have been over this a few times. Try being honest. You refused to try different sabots when advice was offered. You wanted to keep using what worked in your old rifle. Many 1000s of people can reload a new CVA just fine so the problem is clearly YOU.

I can reload and shoot all damn day with BH209 and never clean. ANY other sub or real black at some point will require cleaning to reload sabots in ANY muzzle loader. You are dreaming if you think you can.

Ive been shooting MLs since the late 70s. The big difference is i learned to adapt and you simply did not. What works in one ML has a chance of not working in another. Even the exact same model.

New CVAs are light years ahead of the garbage they used to sell before 2009ish.

Just kinda spendy for a rifle that is not offered in SS and the breach plug actually could be slightly better too. T/C has a new Impact SB with a quick release plug that looks interesting but again its not stainless or nitride coated.

T/C should have never quit offering SS and the Omega was a super fine rifle. Dumbest thing they ever did was quit making the Omega. It was nearly perfect right out of the box.

I have the SS/Weathershield and the black synthetic stock. I agree it's pricey and the bone collector stock feels a bit cheap. I still haven't found a ML layout I like more and I have many. I can't get on board with the Pro Hunter grip.

What do you feel could be better about the breach? I personally think it's phenomenal but I don't know it all by any stretch. Curious

Its not SS its just SS in color only. The actual barrel steel is not stainless.

The Triumph plug is very long. Counter sinking it for a vent liner does 2 things.
1)It brings the powder slightly closer to the primer
2)The flash hole becomes a replaceable $5 item instead of the plug.

To accomplish this the flash channel is increased to 5/32" from 1/8" so as a side benefit it fills with carbon more slowly. You end up with close to the same flash channel volume but the powder is closer.

make the 1st shot count, and the kick less and are more quiet than crossbows, but not as heavy...allegedly!!
