I'm going to my taxidermist's this weekend to pic out the form for my deer mount. I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions or preferences they could share. Also, I am attaching an image of the deer to be mounted. He has kind of a unique "high rack". I was thinking possibly a full sneak with a lip curl.

I am really happy with it rat. I have a guy in central Mo, that does my mounts. He does a really good job on putting a lot of detail into them. Muscle tone wrinkles and that sort of stuff.

I guess I saw that mount on your other post. Is this the same one you are taking to the classic to get scored?

BTW... I saw someone else mentioned that the line for getting your rack scored is pretty long in the morning.. you may want to wait till a little later in the day to get in line... you prolly already know this!

I'm personally not a fan of the lip curl mounts. I think it's hard to make those with the flehmen look good.
I think one of these days I'm going to have a wall pedistal done. It's a fairly new mount but I like the way it looks. I also like the corner mounts for something a little different.
As for the pose, I like a bunch of different ones, all but the full sneak really. I like the half sneak mounts but never have been a fan of the full sneak or neck mounts. I'm sure whatever you choose will look good. The only thing that I really don't like in mounts is when they are made too defined and look like they're on steroids!
I've actually got three to mount that I will probably be getting to either this weekend or next. I have a straight upright rut form for one and still need to order the other two, not sure what I'm gonna get either!

Lip curls often look fake, and I only like one out of every ten or twelve full sneaks I see. I think semi-sneaks look MUCH better. The key is to get an off-set shoulder like the Joe Meder mannakins. My choice for that rack would probably be a Joe Meder head-up off-set WITHOUT the flehmen mouthpiece.

I personally think if you took the deer from this year and had a full left or right turn hanging beside the biggen in your avatar staring at him with ears partially laid back and neck really pronounced it would look awesome. Kinda I'm gonna kick your butt and take your women look.
