Anybody know of tax writeoffs for your hunting property? I've got 80 acres, small house, and I have some alphalfa harvested from the land. I noticed this posting from another site and I thought I'd ask.. I'm in Missouri..

I am a timber company. I wrote off my tractor, polaris ranger, bush hog, disc, box scrapper, chain saw, repairs to the equipment, fuel for the equipment, seedlings, fertilizer, and I get mileage to drive back and forth to the property.

If you own the equipment that is used to plant, maintain, and harvest the alfalfa, then I would say yes because you are hobby farming alfalfa. You will also need to report how much you sold the alfalfa for as income. Your best bet is to contact a tax accountant to be sure. A good one will make sure you are getting every deduction you can without getting you into trouble.
