This is messed up! My dad got his crappie back a couple weeks ago and it was 14 in. I know that's not bad but when we gave it to the taxidermist he said they shrink a little bit. Well we didn't know so we believed him. Then when i went to Mid Mo Taxidermy Ron told me that the fish shouldn't shrink at all. So that means the txidermist switched out our crappie! And thats the kinda thing that taxidermist get a bad rep. for sometimes.:soapbox::mad2:

Man, that would suck. I could see it shrinking alittle bit but not more than a fraction of an inch. But I guess you heard it from the "horse's mouth." I'd trust Mr. Ron.

I find it hard to believe that it would shrink 2 inches....strange.

The few fish I have had mounted did not shrink. However crappie fillets shrink in 375 deg oil!
