    Nice fish! I need to go tangle with some of those one of these days.

    It is a lake trout. Canadian char is just another name some people use for lake trout. Kind of like sac-a-lait = crappie, sand bass = white bass, grinnel = bowfin, gaspergou = drum, etc.

    It's how we catch them in the spring when the ice first comes off the lakes. Some fellows I know catch them ice fishing, but I am not sure what they use.
