It is a lake trout. Canadian char is just another name some people use for lake trout. Kind of like sac-a-lait = crappie, sand bass = white bass, grinnel = bowfin, gaspergou = drum, etc.
You almost need a bigger boat. Nice fish.
We live more central in BC. Prince George to be exact.
It's how we catch them in the spring when the ice first comes off the lakes. Some fellows I know catch them ice fishing, but I am not sure what they use.
