I was innocently loafing around in a gun shop this morning, and while I was in there, a Ruger SR 1911 snuck out to my truck and hid itself. When I got home, it introduced itself to my Colt 1991A1 Custom Shop gun, and they became fast friends. They have decided to share magazines, holsters, ammo, the whole schmear. Sigh.
I wish they'd quit doing that. Luckily, I have a couple thousand rounds of ammo already loaded, and they fit the chamber of the Ruger "just right". The magazines work well, too. Holsters, and mag pouches are interchangeable, of course.
It's hard to beat a good 1911. This is hardly my first one, I think it makes #10, but I might have lost count somewhere along the way. I usually keep 1911s for long term use. We'll see how it shoots, but this bone-stock Ruger Target is tighter, out of the box, than the old Gold Cup I had, or the Custom Shop 1991A1 gun I've had for about 25 years now. The trigger is equally as good as the Custom Shop Colt, too. Seems to be a nice pistol. We'll see, I'll give it a work-out on Wednesday.
I picked one up a few years ago. I've got the Ruger, three Kimbers, a Para, and a Taurus. Surprisingly the Taurus is a very nice pistol with high quality upgraded parts. I was impressed
All this one really needs is a checkered frontstrap, and it would be a dead-ringer for the old Colt GM I shot for a couple of decades in USPSA/IPSC matches. I shot that poor thing until the frame cracked on it (in a non-critical place). I am down to just these two 1911s right now, if I get around to buying another, it will be a lightweight Commander.
We'll have to see how the Ruger does, but I'm expecting good things. It seems to feed my SWC ammo really well, which is nice, as I have a LOT of it loaded (from the olden days).
