What is the best bread for a shed dog?

Since I have no hands on to make that decision I will ask this question: do shed dogs actually go by smell or sight or the combination of both? By my logic I would guess repetition in training any dog breed to retrieve sheds to their handler would be the key. Are the dogs retrieving sheds doing it for a chew toy for themselves or are they doing it for the approval of their handler.

Heck...my wife's little lap dog likes to carry them around the house. I wonder if the wife would object if I took her little dog out for a walk in the woods?:thinking:
