Which was? I know last year people were commenting on how high the cost was from the year before. Is $1 more this year more or less then last year?

Bulk fertilizer right now is down compared to last year averaging $100 less per ton what I’ve seen z
I have to think that is a supply and demand thing..lots of Fert just sitting around and no demand..see what happens in a couple of months. I maybe off base but I'd wager a great many of us on MWT are not in the realm of being able to buy/spread or use Fert bought in bulk.
That being said shopping around for bagged fert is always the wise thing to do but I dont see myself investing in Ferting my food plots anymore.. they are just deer for crying out loud.

I think I paid right at $3 a lb last year. It's $4 a lb this year. Crimson clover cheaper but I like the Ladino it will last several years. Just mow it a couple of times during summer/ fall.
Hopefully, next fall won't be like this past fall. There were so many acorns deer were not hitting my plots. Checked cams on Tues lots of deer hitting plots now.

I bought 13-13-13 at Menards last fall for $9 for 20lb bag. Hopefully they still have some. I don't really fertilize very heavy mainly use onmy turnip-radish plots
I have been mixing in cereal rye last couple years in my plots.
I either knock it down with tractor bucket or mow it late May early Jun. Hopefully building up my soil. Grant Woods swears by this method

I know several cattle farmers around me that didn’t fertilize anything last year and made it. I spread my hayfields NPK like always but only put N on my pastures . They did all right but the weeds seemed to be heavier .
Hopefully I can get back to normal this year but cattle prices right now it’s not looking like it.

Just for kicks I looked up Whitetail Research Cover and it is $42.98 for 4 lbs,

Imperial Whitetail Clover contains the only clover genetically designed for whitetail deer. Imperial Whitetail Clover has an extremely high protein content – critical for antler, muscle and bone growth and thrives in extreme cold as well as warm, dry climates.

  • Packed with antler-building protein
  • Helps does deliver heavier, healthier fawns and produce more milk
there ya go

The two years I planted the FF blend was light years better than the 3 years I planted normal elevator blend. Could have been other variables in play for sure, but the FF is 2 for 2

I’ve seen this twice now when comparing my plots to my bro in laws plots. I planted generic seed from coop. He planted something specific from the farm store…can’t recall the name off the top of my head. His was 3 times as big and healthy as what I had growing. There are other factors at play like rain and soil nutrients I know but the difference has been so drastic I’m trying some of it this year. Seed matters too I think

The seed in buck on the bag is nothing magic. Can be purchased in small quantity's on line but is still more expensive than what I buy at COOP. I also have seen it out perform standard Ladinos. Buck on the bag is a convenience thing and been told also true about brassicas mixes. For years been wanting to try some of the high end brassicas seed and might try this August. If that's the case will have no rain till Oct, your welcome.
