Scale or Fillet?

    Pan fish do you just Scale or Fillet before cooking?Known people that did it both ways.

    I prefer to fillet,most of my fishin buddies area lot older than me and they scale,my mother in law still sits there with a spoon and scales everywhere.I like fillets cause usually drinking pretty heavy by time to eat and bones get in me way :D

    Fillet. Less mess and don't lose that much meat.

    I scale and fillet. I like the taste of the skin and I think you get a bigger fillet than skinning.

    Fillet and remove the "belly-bones". I handle panfish the same way as bass. It doesn't take too long when u have a bunch to do. Kind of have a little routine.

    my father in law gripes when i filet them of course he is old school says they taste better on the bone i just do what he wants so i dont have to hear about why i did it the wrong way:blah::roll2:

    I filet the Crappie and scale the Bluegills unless they are huge

    usually don't mess with em at all but if I do , fillet em.
