Red finally decided to turk hunt after quite a few years on the ball diamond. Nothing shaking on my farm early, two gobbling on each side of us. I can tell one is in the neighbors crop field where birds usually strut and gobble their butts off all morning and stay put. Start pouring on the calls pretty loud to reach out and he hammers back every time. Nice to hear, but I can tell he's not moving for quite awhile so I shuddap and sat tight. He gobbled some more and some more and went quiet so he was either on the move or was preoccupied.
A good bit passes and boom, gobble at about 60 yards, I mighta had to wake the kid up and there's a big ol' periscope checking out the dekes and the two hens at the other end of the clover plot. He pops into strut for the live hens and paces back and forth for a solid 90+ minutes at 35-40 yards. Literally for that 90 minutes he never broke full strut or gave a shot opportunity. The hens finally bug their way into the timber and I think, now's our chance. Sunuva.... they come right back out. Good news, they come towards us but don't hang around long.
Tom tom finally saw the submissive hen in front of jakey boy and couldn't help himself. I'm glad he didn't give a shot at 35-40, it's so much more fun to have them right in your face and see them just get crushed. Looks like someone needs a new pair of sweatpants. :D
Buyer beware, there's a sprinkle of salt in the vid.

Yeah buddy! Love seeing the shot string in these. And even better he cuts the shot before I can finish running my yap.
I might even see if I can dumb into some fungus later.

Good deal. Congrats Red. I had a similar hunt this morning only without shooting. It is some fun stuff.

No doubt, when I asked if he wanted to go he was like "I guess".... So I asked again "do you WANT to" and it was a yes. Safe to say I don't think it was his last turkey hunt.
