Missouri is already ML or archery only in the vast majority of public grounds. Most guys on public ground don’t like it. It’s a matter of time before private grounds follow suit. Get ready to raise hell, or prepare for the communist bs

That's not accurate at all.
based on my limited experience. I have hunted public ground in central, west central, and southeast Missouri and they all had signs “ muzzle loader and archery only for whitetail deer”. I’m pretty sure you can still use a high power rifle on coyotes outside of deer season out there.

Ten locations within reasonable drive of my home, all archery/muzzy or archery only.

I assume there is still public ground where you can hunt deer with a high power rifle, but haven’t seen it.

Mark twain national forest alone has 1.5 MILLION acres in MO that you can rifle hunt. Add in 16k acres of Irish wilderness, thousands of acres of corps ground(over 100,000 acres at truman and mark Twain alone), and lots of large conservation areas open to high powered rifles and there’s no shortage of places to go wound deer with your 30/30’s.
I haven’t hunted mark Twain but I’ve spent some time out there on Truman. Truman is archery and muzzleloader only for at least the past two seasons. They post the signs in every parking area. I even spent a day driving with a buddy looking for a spot we could rifle hunt.

You obviously don’t know what you are talking about.

If you spent any time out there recently you’d know. Lots of people have properties out there and gun hunt the corps land with no idea.

I know plenty of people the rifle hunt Corp ground.

MDC doesn't post regulation signs on land they don't own.
If you don’t acces it from a public access point then you’d never know

Ok I am about tired of getting called a liar about this. I didn’t make it up and it is what it is. You can’t even look it up on the MDC website and half of these places you can pull them up searching for places to hunt deer with a rifle. You can also pull up gun range on a lot of these places that have no gun range.

You need to put some time in on public ground, and acces it from a designated public parking area, or you’ll never see the signs they post. They are on ever single piece of public ground o have accessed in the past two years.

Archery and ML only or archery only for deer.

You can still hunt coyotes on a lot of it with a rifle, but not during deer season.

Hey I know old timers that hunt lake bardwell and lake lavon back in Texas, that use 12 gauge lead bb’s only for all species and had cases of the stuff sitting around for decades. And the law out there was steel shot only, nothing larger than #4, buckshot forbidden, hog hunting with smooth bore shotgun slug only.

I’m not calling you a liar but I know the law.

Conservation Areas and Corp ground are different. MDC doesn't post regulations for ground they don't manage or own aside from the season regulations.

To say all public ground, Corp ground included, surrounding Truman is only ML or Archery is just flat wrong.
I have a $100 bill that says you can’t find a parking area with hunting acces on Truman that doesn’t have those signs. Unless they were taken by vandals lol

This is how I know you haven’t spent any time out there. Unless you have a property on the border of the corps land out there, or accesses it from a buddy’s place or a lease, you’d know.

I’m sure there’s plenty of folks that use a boat for access who also do not know.

Really wish I would have got some pictures of all those signs. I’m not making it up. I wonder if the guys posting the signs even know the regs

2022 Fall Deer & Turkey Regs View attachment 237195

First column is Archery & Firearms

Second column is Archery & ML only.
I literally just pulled up the same information. Don’t ask me why I could t find it before. I’ve wasted a lot of time looking for this. Matter of fact I stayed up till midnight looking for something like this. I swear I have gone over this very same thing quite a bit but I never saw these tables.

I’ve been wrong before it won’t be the last time. I appreciate it.

Been dying to kill something with my grandfather in laws 30-06 ever since he passed it down to me.

Doesn’t change the fact that I have not found a designated parking area on public ground that wasn’t marked archery and muzzleloader only, and I’ve been to units not marked as such in the regs. I have messaged MDC about it.
