Rattle bag or shed antlers ?

bought a rattle bag because I’m tired of carrying the deer sheds to rattle with. Don’t really like the sound of them. You guys use them much? A lot easier to carry but I don’t want to screw up a hunt because I’m getting lazy!

Cause you aren't using a black rack and extinguisher.
You need to communicate not call.

Sheds only for me. I've got a bungee that I wrap the together with and my bag has straps to hold them. I take a pack with me every day I hunt though. I bought a nice tenzeng pack and it makes it nice to carry all my crap.
Roadkill cutoffs. Sentimental value is why I still use them. Buck in my avatar answered their call one day

either way it will work, a cup ice or a cargo pocket with a shotgun shell, & a bottle of tinks will work as well, just isn't very loud!
I have rattled in a lot more deer all be it dink’s still way more bucks since switching to real antlers so take that for what it’s worth
I use sheds tied together with a shoe lace so I can hang them around my neck and walk to my stand during juvenile season in Carhartts and no orange.

smart, the kids have better eyes, as a rule and aren't as quick to shoot at just moment, like the grizzled vets in the orange army JV
Carried a bag for years for convenience, and have rattled in 0 deer in my lifetime. Granted I don't really try it too overly often.

Went to a small/medium set off of a roadkill last year that is easy to handle/carry. My total is still 0

The only three deer I can attribute directly to coming due to rattling, two of them got shot by Red in yute season. The one that got away may or may not have come into the rattling, it was 10-12 minutes after the rattling sequence and 'someone' was piddling around on his phone when said yute poked me and said "G, there's a really big deer right there"... and then he wasn't there anymore. :fight:

I get a better response when I rake/rub the bag/antlers on the bark of the tree and rattle them in the limbs then I do rattling them. I lightly grunt whether with buck or doe grunter. It's not like you are calling honkers from 3 miles away

Last year the Louisana fence sitter guys next to me let out a rattling and grunting sequence that would scare a 200+inch buck into the next county. I think they watch to much TV

I have rattled in two bucks with a rattle bag and Grunting at tge same time . If their mood is right tge come looking and quick. One was a 11 point the other was 8 point ..

On the right day the crack rattle clang of hanging a portable tree stand can be magic....lol

I've rattled in a dozen or more using a variety of shed antlers and rattle bags....all work well and I always mix in some grunts and maybe a doe bleat or two during pauses.

Best day ever was during the first week of November last year...rattled in 5 different bucks in the same afternoon. Here's a video......I didn't get video of the other four because they were bigger and I was thinking about maybe a shot.

I have a set I cut off. Have always worked fine. I Grunt real fast and short.

If they come it is immediately.

oneshot

:D They don't like the Big Grin talking to them.
