How many of my brothers in arms on MWT won the Purple Heart during their service? Got mine in VN in '68. Happy Veterans day brothers and sister veterans.

I don't have one, but my father-in-law got one in Nam. From the sounds of it, he was very close to not coming home. He has passed it down to my wife so she actually has the purple heart at our house. It is kind of awe-inspiring to look at it and think of what it represents.

I know all of our Veterans appreciate your thanks very much. It's good to see this with so many vets returning from war now. It sure was different when I got home from VN.

Received mine in September of 1969 in Viet Nam. Lost some hearing in my right ear and receive a small disability check each month from the VA. My squad was ambushed on our way back from an all night patrol. Out of 10 men in my squad 7 were wounded but no causalities Thank God. I still have a piece of metal in my left cheek bone just below my eye. My wife had a personal Purple Heart plate made for me through the VA.

Mailman, I guess there are three of us in the Order of the Purple Heart. Where were you "in country"? If you look at our experiences in the context of this hunting site it was the longest hunting trip of my career. Good thing was you didn't need a tag to hunt. Thanks for your sacrifice.

Here are the three that were on my chest. The second pic is of the junk I wore on my dress uniform. I need to clean them once in awhile. It has been 41 years since the last time.

Thank you sir....and to you as well.

The training we received there and the weapons we used had a lasting effect on me at least. I still to this day believe that a black rifle is for killing humans. I carried a M-16 most of the time while I was there and it saved my butt many a time but it was a War time weapon. This is why I don't own a rifle with a black synthetic stock. That's just me....I have no bad feeling towards those that like them at all but to me...I won't own one. I won't even pick one up at a Gun Show.
