It wont be long and submissions for pl cost share thru mdc will be starting.

Whats the plan fellas ?

Im planning to put in for my cedar burn again that I didnt get done this year. Other than that I plan to have a sit down with my plc and forester to discuss invasives and maybe a wildlife pond or two.

Prescribed fire in unit1 (18 acres) and unit 4 (23 acres)

Multiflora rose eradication in unit 3

Hopefully it drys out enough sometime between now and Fall to finish grade and plant the three new food plots made with 2018 funding.

To think - not all that long ago they were promoting it's planting for wildlife. :banghead:

At least its easier to manage now than when I was a kid. I crawled around under that stuff wrapping chains so it could be pulled. Nobody was touting how to use chemicals on it . With 6 boys dad probably wouldnt of bought chemical anyway. :D
Planted one plot in a spring mix for the first time. Left one so so clover plot alone till fall. Now to figure out a ground blind for the grand daughters first deer hunt this fall..

It is really beneficial to wildlife.

Depending on the density - correct!

Rabbits, quail, and other birds love muttiflora up to a certain stem count.
And deer browse the heck out of it.
We've got some areas that are gonna see a 40% basal area reduction this coming winter & more cedars will slaughtered on the big lease. Pete and I have some saw work coming up to say the least. Hopefully the pollinator plantings in the fields took as they've been nuked to wastelands the last 2 years, be awful nice to have something taller than 2" in them.

Hmmmmmm - interesting - I cannot recall ever noticing any browsing on multiflora on my place - blackberries big time - multiflora never.

I have noticed browsing on the younger plants when ive been spraying them. Not on the mature plants though. That can be said for a lot of browse though.
