$10 avg a coon would perk us up if the grading isn't to particular.....
This year so far I have a $10.91 average on coon. With 75 percent of what I sent sold. Then add in the meat market. Sure would like it to be where it was 5 years ago, but not terrible.
Wouldn't do it to just throw them in a ditch, just wasn't raised that way. Sure some are damaged or titty sows but most are utilized for fur, and all are sold to meat market.
Where is "up north" ?
Where is there a market for raccoon meat? Just curious, I am not aware of any in my area.
I'm in scotland co., meat market is in the south.
Where did you sell fur to get that average ?
Nafa have shipped there for around 15 years
The other 25% won't sell and you will be sent a bill for storage.
They don't bill for storage, they will sell, the ones that didn't sell are some of the better grades.
If NAFA is still in Canada, you are being fooled. The old suit case switch.
Don't order the pulled pork.
Where at in the south ? 550 coons big enough for 75% of them to be big enough to bring $10 is alot of coon meat. You must ship alot.
Henry, there's an ol boy from Miss. that makes a couple of runs thru here every year to buy coon meat, then sales it down there.
all the coons you catch must be dandies???
I think we would like some contact information if it available. I've not heard of a market for raccoon meat and it would be nice to be able to sell the meat which would make it worth while to skin one when the actual skin is only worth a dollar or two.
Name of someone, website, phone number, whatever is available. Also, how much do raccoon carcasses sell for?
Is it legal to sell coon meat? I thought it was illegal to sell most game animals meat....???
Y'all can tell me about the market in a PM or phone call
So is that a yes or no on the legality??
Ask the MDC.
