Planted on 6/14, about a month later than last year. I decided to try some shatter resistant beans as last year by late season, a lot of the pods were empty and the beans were rotting on the ground... not too mention the late season weather was garbage for hunting for the most part. I also planted some sorghum as a screen around the shooting house to keep deer from getting right under it as well as provide cover and ambient noise to cover movement in the blind. There's also a row of sorghum planted just out of sight over the rise in the ground to use as cover getting in and out.
Sprayed the foxtail and what little JG popped this year on Sunday, broadcast some PT turnip, GH radish, chicory and crimson into the beans last night.

The jungle plots are doing very well considering I just tossed all the seeds in the hopper and ran them through the bean plates. Sorghum, soy beans, cow peas and buckwheat mixture is really doing well, I wasn't sure how well it would do with different seed sizes... but I got lucky or guessed right. Some of the sorghum is 4-5 feet tall and it loves this weather.
I'm going to spot spray some spots in these plots to make room for turnip, radish etc and may knock down a few shooting lanes with the atv. I'm really liking the cover and food mix of these, the browse pressure tells me they're being utilized a lot.

That stuff is rocking and rolling. I love seeing the lush color on plants this time of year. We have had a good year for plots if the seed got in the ground.

The only failure/learning lesson I got this year was do not try to plant strips of sorghum where ya don't spray/prep first. I tried to run strips along the edges of a few clover plots to screen them in & about zero percent of that seed germinated.
I just hope we get some real late season weather this year.
Looking good!!
How the h*ll you been old man???

You and me both. Barring a real disaster we should have the food to make bad weather fun.
