This was a hunt that a couple of friends and I took to Nemaha County Kansas back in 1996. They were all wild pheasants on private land. My old dog Katie really had a work out that day. She even pointed a prairie chicken that I shot which is the one right below my knee. Old Katie came down with diabetes the following year and went blind. She turned 13 last month. She was only 3 and in her prime when the diabetes took over her life. She bumps her way around the house sort of like a slow moving ball in a pinball machine. She gets two insulin shots every day. I now have her grand daughter and she is starting to live up to her grandmothers legacy. I sure miss the old days in the field with Katie.

The vet gave her two years max. She has lasted 7 years now. That shows what love and affection will do. She is a real sweety. Don't know what I'll do when it's her turn to go.

You'll cry your heart out. I didn't think I'd be that upset when we put our dog to sleep.
