Out of state waterfowl hunt

For you waterfowl hunters, if you were to go on an out of state waterfowl hunt where would you choose and why?

I have a son that likes to go but my old spots just don't produce for a good hunt. We only have the chance to hunt 1 or 2 times a year so it isn't worth getting in on a lease.

Where should I start looking? Canada? North Dakota? South Dakota? I have no desire to go to hunt sea ducks.

Pretty loaded question. Trip of a lifetime would be Canada or Mexico for me. I'd say Oklahoma with Albecks adventures or Kansas with whoever @fullfan went with for a weekend hunt.
No Mexico. I hear Canada can be a lot of fun, but is there much difference between there and the Dakotas? The closer the better for me. Combo of ducks and geese would be the best.
Saskatchewan has always been phenomenal for me!

I've had some good trips to Manitoba also but not nearly as consistent as Sask.

I've done North Dakota as well a couple times but I'll take the extra drive any day for the difference in quality.

How far up in Saskatchewan did you go? I have a friend up there right now and sounds like they are doing great. But had to take 2 planes to get where he was going.
Habitat Flats first choice
Arkansas 2nd
We drive up - 20 hours from STL.

We hunt NE of Regina near Quill Lake or over near Minnedosa in Manitoba (17 hr drive).

Anyone know a good outfitter for a flooded timber hunt? Arkansas, Mississippi?

Stan Jones Mallard Lodge in Arkansas.
Early in Canada. Worth the drive for bigger limits, too.
Stan Jones - $900/day Little pricey for me.

Early has some advantages. But remember, bird plumage is not one of them. If you are looking for a nice looking bird to mount, or for nice looking pictures of ducks, later is better. .02
+1 Canada for bigger limits. Early = brown ducks. DIY public/door knocking in Sask.
Landowners their own a boatloads of land in sq miles not acres (hectacres).

In Sask did you hunt dry fields or water?

Dry fields almost exclusively - I'll never forget the quote of our local host we befriended.

"Hunting water is for puzzies!" :p
You’ll prolly never draw to hunt ducks in SD, ND is a good option, There’s a secret MECCA on the Missouri River right above the Confluene of the Niobrara River on the Nebraska border!!!
