As many saw last year I harvested a beauty 10 full velvet that went 168 on opening day. This season there was a really heavy horned 8 that caught my eye. He would have the most mass out of any deer I've ever killed so I set sights on him and his running mate who was pushing 25" wide. Opening day saw lots of small bucks and does. I knew with season opening a week later and pics of bucks shedding and my target 8 years with strips hanging that he was likely cleaning up his rack and would act funny a day or two. Saturday evening we got in early 2pm and didn't see a deer til 630. The opposite of the day before with all the young bucks. That made me feel good that big boy and his running mates were back around and close. Sure enough 720 all four bucks came in and started to feed. After about 5 minutes he gave me a slight quarter to shot and I slipped the sevr right in there double lung at 27 yards and he didn't make it but about 75 yards. Great start to the season. I also included a photo of opening day success for my two buddies who harvested their biggest bucks ever and for one man it was his first deer in ten years and first ever bow buck 140" 9pt
