Take a look at the X7.
That is good looking. Pretty wood............
New Encore Pro Hunter
Man ~ I'd sure like to try out the new Pro Hunter stock, on my Encore's...
Chairman-I bet this what Shockey will be shooting on TV this next year.
Mr. Whitetail himself, Larry Weishuhn...
He's the one that got me looking at T/C Encore's, in the first place.
Shockeys a Knight guy right now. Right?
Some good lookin guns there!
And the re-vamp makes um look even better!
Check out his website-He has split the sheets w/Knight and is now pitching for TC
That pic of the X7 is either dorked up or they took the pic with a barrel that isn't quite 20" installed on the rifle. No way the pictured barrel is 24".
The X7 Omega specs a 24" barrel - if the barrel on the rifle above is 24" long then the rifle is only built for 7' tall basketball players.
Ignore the trigger guards (I would like to) as I botched 'em up. This is how the X7 with a 24" barrel should compare to a standard Omega - by my SWAG.
I hope that 24" barrel has lost the "QLA". At least it won't cost $75 plus shipping to saw it off!!
Hey tootall, good to see ya here. So far they've not mentioned a QLA but it's hard to believe TC would really leave that "wonderful" feature off.
My Encore QLA removal only cost me $8. You must have sent yours to David White?
X7 MSRP $601 :roll2: per GZanders.com
I'm gonna be needing a reference. I'm thinking of doing the same...
Sorry Rick, but the friend that did mine has passed away. I got the barrel ready for the lathe, he cut it down and gave it an 11 degree target crown, and cut my ramrod to match the same length. I asked him how much and he told me $2 but I wuz feelin genrus an gave him 8. I miss that old boy, he wuz a good feller and very talented.
Later on I decided that I didn't like the crown because it was too hard to get a conical started so I redid the crown myself at an additional cost of 99 cents plus tax. His cut left a shine like a new dime so I used some Scotch-Brite pad to scuff the face of it a little. Dulled it but left a few obvious scratches you can see in the photos (not with the naked eye unless your eyes are a lot better than mine). Here's how it turned out (disregard the lint and color artifacts) :
UC, Nice job on the barrel crown:whinging:
I've had 2 different Black Diamond guns and now the Encore. None of them would shoot conicals with hunting accuracy. The Encore is the worst. It will not keep 460gr No Excuses in a 16" square at 100 Yds, but is deadly accurate with shockwaves.
The calipers say the QLA is off by .009 of an inch
I'm hoping the trip to Mississippi will help it's disposition, and mine.
He does some great work by all accounts. Bet your barrel shoots everything better when it gets back.
Sorry to hear that... :frown:
