I'm a new member looking to find some public land to hunt in the fall!
What are you wanting to hunt and where are you starting from.
What you will hear from a lot of the boys is find an area that you can get away from the parking lot, a half a mile will separate you from 3/4 of the public.
Looking to hunt deer. I live in Louisiana looking for northern Missouri I have my camper to pull behind me would like to bow hunt!
Several large Conservation Areas in North MO, not sure which side you are looking at east or west. I'd get on MDC's website and look around. Also you might put in for a management hunt. Certainly I'd start at the website narrow it done to a few areas and then there should be someone you can contact with specifics on the area.
Bow hunting should be easy enough to find a decent area to camp and hunt in N MO. Heavier pressure when the rifles come out. Welcome and good luck.
Are you bringing 25 guys with you? Will the LA hunting sites not share their honey holes the currently hunt in Missouri, seems odd?
Thanks I am hoping to find something not over run with people.
Shouldn't be that hard. Check out MDC website for a listing of all the public ground in MO under MDC control.
No sir I have hunted Missouri before. Looking for public land that I can get on that isn't over run with people. I'm a guide in Louisiana for fishing easier to take a week or so off to hunt the pay 4k a year to be in a club in Mississippi to hunt 2 weeks.
Good news is there is a ton of public land and a ton of 2.5 year bucks. Good luck and be safe.
Ok cool guess that's a jab at a guy trying to have a little fun?
Seems to be a jab at a guy trying to come gave some fun.
That's just twenty, you really want to fire him up tell him you'll be shooting a crossbow.
I'll be shooting a crossbow with a explosive tip and night light! Lol
Ahootbwhat makes ya happy, from my experience the southern guys are happy as a lark with the 110" buck they traveled north to kill, but saybit is 130
Your success rate will increase, so wait for a 3.5 or older!
If your easily offended, you'll probably get little honest help on this site. No one here is going to do the leg work for you, there's lots & lots of public ground in MO that isn't over run during bow season. I suggested you check out MDC's website I'll also suggest if you find an area that looks appealing, call & talk to the area manager of that area. They'll be able to give you some ideas of how heavily hunted the area is. Don't expect to find sparse hunting close to heavily populated areas.
What part of LA are you from? I traveled to a ton of different areas down there from Houma to Shreveport and many more
Would like to shoot 140 or better just a personal goal. Would rather shoot a doe than 110 inch deer
I live in Albany/Hammond area work in new orleans
