So one of my friends shoots a deer with his bow Wednesday night. He says he found his arrow no blood but he found a piece of hair and hide he thinks it's the tail.

He gets back to the ATV and I put the light on it. He shot the tip of the tail off a doe!
No doubt about it! I couldn't believe 1. He missed that bad, 2. The broadhead cut the tail cartilage off clean!

I don't have a pic yet but I will be sure to post it.
He said he thinks he hit a limb... Sure you did

That is a story that can be shared around a campfire for years to come. It might end up being a tall tale by the time its done, but a tale to tell for sure. :D

A good friend of mine jumped a large deer rifle hunting and took a long running shot. Deer dropped and we went to the spot. A neatly severed tail was laying there. The next day the same deer was shot as it was very easy to identify. Gave him grief on that shot every year. Wish he was still around to watch my son learn from what he taught me.

Think somebody needs a little training in how to tell the difference between its head and its %#$! Maybe he thought somebody shaved its butt and taught it to walk backwards???

Three or so years ago at the Peck Ranch ML hunt I shot the tail off the biggest deer Ive ever seen. He was running right to me and jumped over a small creek almost at the second I pulled the trigger. Funny thing was I watched him run off with what I thought was a tucked tail. I just knew I had hit him because I could see white hair all over the ground where I had shot at him so, I smoked a cig and calmed myself down before I went to follow the blood trail. You can imagine my disbelief when I walked the twenty or so yards and found his tail and a few drops of blood. I did stop at the park rangers office and showed them the tail, gave directions to my camp and told them if someone tried to check it in to let them know I got it first and just drop the rest of the deer off to me. :D
