My wife and her siblings are wanting to buy a GPS for my father in law for Christmas to keep him pointed in the right direction when he is **** hunting. He has tried to use my Garmin E trex but would like something that is "easier to operate". Any suggestions would be appreaciated.

Thanks

Get him a Backtrack. Shows ya where you were and where ya are. Point and go to get back. That's all it does. Around $60.

I am also looking for a easy to use GPS, I have one, has so many features and screens, I always end up on the wrong screen, I dont feel like spending days on how to use it. Are the Garmin e trax pretty simple? Just need something to mark different spots, so I can find them again in the middle of the nite, middle of the forest. I would like a handheld unit. Nothing fancy. Thanks in advance

 I was gonna say get a compass, but I see it stores up to three locations in it. That sounds like a good option to me.

I'm impressed with how easy it looks. I'll be interested to know if it allows you to put in coords, or if you have to be standing in the spot when you claim that as your spot 'on the map'.

Only review I have is from my **** hunter grandson who hunts all over the country. So far he has found his truck with it every time he needed to.

It is most likely too simple for most of today's outdoors people. It only shows where ya were and where ya are. For anyone that has ever used a compass it should be very simple to use.

I use a Etrex Legend HCX that shows a whole lot more than I need to know when I need a GPS the most. I plan to own one soon.

I read those too Bricky and got a little gun shy. However, the reviews on Cabela's website were much better. So I think that we're going to purchase one for him.
