The Hi point will break. Seen it to many times. The mosin nagant is almost indestructable.

mosin nagants are pretty rugged rifle. the only reason there cheap is theres been over. 37'000'000 made. most you find are in non-issued condition. 7.62x54 is like a 30 06 or 308

They won't go up in value till their aren't many around.....but that will be way off in the future. SKSs used to be sold brand new for right at or under 100 bucks but look at em now. My dad bought me a brand new Russian SKS in prestine condition with all the arsenal markings for $100 when I was in jr high and now they bring around $700 for the same gun at most gun shows I've been too. I still kick myself everytime I remember I traded it off for practically nothing.

Nothing wrong with asking for a gun for Christmas. Lord knows I used to be the same way and still am. If I were you doemaster, I would get me hands on one good used shotgun and one good used deer rifle and maybe a 22....christmases and what not. Keep em forever as these are your first good guns. Don't add to it till you are out of school and have a career. Lots of other stuff that takes money down the road.
