I just got into turkey hunting about 4 or 5 months ago. I’ve been hunting public land all season. Today a friend of mine invited me out to his private land for a hunt. We were set up for about 30 minutes before this guy started walking up. He gobbled 1 time about 100 yards away from us and silently made his way in. I shot him at about 35 yards. At first I thought I missed because he flew off but after flying about 75 yards I heard the thud of him hitting the ground. As you can guess I was beyond pumped. I’ve really enjoyed turkey hunting and look forward to future hunts!

Hard to believe my first gobbler was over 20 years ago. Congrats on yours!

Congrats on your first gobbler! I still remember my first longbeard 38 years later.
Guess this proves I'm getting old, remembering my first turkey 40 yr ago and I was 19 at the time.
Congratulations.

Sounds like nearly the exact story as the one on my first gobbler 41 years ago. I body shot him running/flying straight away and he went about 100 yds... Congrats
